Today I thank God for the gift of the surgeons and medical staff who have taken such good care of you. So glad to hear your recovery is advancing quickly. Jim to help with pain, be in the present of each and every single moment, focus on the calmness of each breath, particularly at the end/beginning of each one as the air turns from in breath to out breath; for this practice aids in calming the mind, body and spirit. My husband taught me this technique. He trained in and taught for over 10 years the ancient Chinese art of Tai Chi for health and relaxation. I use this skills as part of my meditation and prayers. Dear Jim and Nancy - It is so wonderful reading your latest post-amazing recovery!!! We are so inspired by your "fight" and the unbelievable positive attitude you exhibit all throughout this ordeal but most of all your steadfast faith in our LORD. We truly believe in our hearts that HE has a wonderful plan for you and many many more years! This suffering and pain episode in your life is like taking the same path of HIS suffering and pain. Praise God from whom ALL blessing flow! What a gift you are giving us all. Aaron just received his cycle 2, 1st chemo after a week of rest. You know the drill. We sat together and read your post. What an encouragement and praise report. Like you, we are rejoicing in prayers from family and friends (a little smaller #!). Aaron has been reading your book, Piano on the Beach, and commenting on how he didn't realize how much he has missed the "leadership." As we began our journey with cancer this January we read Max Lucado's book ,It's Not about Me (guess who gave me my first Max Lucado book to read - Nurse Nancy, of course). We are striving daily, with prayer, to live with this purpose in all we do. With God's help and friends like you who share your heart and hope, all this possible. We are truly blessed and grateful. Dear Jim and Nancy, we thank our Father in Heaven that His plans are perfect and that He will never overload us, but give us enough strength for each day. He has used this disease to bring a great harvest into His kingdom and you were so obedient and praised Him in your deepest moments. Thank you for such a wonderful example of faith. Jim and Nancy, We were juicing that nightly vegetable cocktail for Johnny and I just had to stop to see if there was anything posted on your surgery. ( I sent a post yesterday with a note of who we are and our prayers for you two.) It was great to see your own post already! Wasn't it awesome to feel God with us at MDA today! Even though we never wanted this cancer challenge, our precious Lord is using it to grow us and others too. As you were having your successful surgery, we too, were getting good news! From all the tests this week, we learned every organ in Johnny's body is healthy and the only cancer is in the lung. Praise God! He will begin a new target therapy trial that is getting great results and we are ready and feel our Lord's presence with us. We all certainly see from notes from you and Nancy how He is carrying you through your trial too. You both will remain in my daily prayers as we lift you to Him through your healing time. Thanks for sharing your stories through your cancer walk with us and we will continue to pray and watch our mighty God's hand in your complete healing! Having been through a similar experience 3 years ago, I can only say that the shock of the realisation that I had cancer was a grounding and centering experience for me. Jim, I heard from John Maxwell about praying for you. I had no idea until now. Just remember, God is good all the time. We might not understand why until we get to the other side. I guess if it was God's purpose to draw you nearer to him and be a living testimiony, then I guess we alreadt have part of the answer. Just hearing about you has prompted the Holy Spirit living in me to grab my attention about being totally obedient to Him. Thank you for being God's messenger through all that you've been through. Jim and Nancy, We have held you in our prayers since Dec. when our upline sent us your note. We met you WAY BACK in the early 80's when yo both spoke for one of our Strehil weekends. I am praying your through surgery today. We will be at MDA later today too, for results of tests taken the past two days. Johnny is in battle against lung cancer and is in chemo at MDA too. Hello Jim , On this very special day today, I pray for your very succesful operation and wish that GOD remains with you throughout this process. My name is Sudhir Ganguly and I llive in Mumbai, India. I have heard so much about you from my son and daughter in law - Shubir and Monica Ganguly – who are Amway Business Owners at Melbourne. I am aware that there are millions and millions of people who have been so deeply touched, influenced and benefitted to have fantastic quality of lives. It is the good wishes of all these people that are there with you and around you, working as a shield of protection, care and respect. And all this for a man they all love so much – yes its for you dear Jim Dornan. I have also been closely following the updates posted on the web learning all about how you and Nancy are handling this challenge. And we admire the way its done. I am writing this email to you also because I too have been inflicted with the same disease . I was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in December last year and once confirmed, I went on to have 3 severe rounds of chemotherapy at the well known TATA Cancer Hospital at Mumbai. Very able doctors of this hospital have put me on the “ Magic Protocal” which means 3 rounds of chemotherapy with a gap of 21 days, followed by surgery and then again 3 rounds of chemotherapy. After 3 rounds of chemos, I have had my surgery on the 8th March and am recovering steadily after that here. And I wish to share with you that there is nothing to be concerned about. Just go in there and almighty GOD and the good wishes of all will do the rest. My wife Bulu , myself, Shubir and Monica, wish you a very successful operation on the 16th and the subsequent recovery. Jim and Nancy, As I have prayed for you I searched for a special scripture to send you. Then I realized I should give you "my" scripture. I prayed for my unborn granddaughter Alison 17 years ago as she was in distress. God gave me : Psalm 21:2 You have given him his heart's desire and not withheld the request of his lips. and Psalm 21:4 He asked LIFE from You and You gave it to him. Two days after Alison was born I was in the hospital for brain surgery. I believe God in His grace allowed me to pray for myself even though I did not realize it at the time.
