Today I thank God for the gift of the surgeons and medical staff who have taken such good care of you. So glad to hear your recovery is advancing quickly. Jim to help with pain, be in the present of each and every single moment, focus on the calmness of each breath, particularly at the end/beginning of each one as the air turns from in breath to out breath; for this practice aids in calming the mind, body and spirit. My husband taught me this technique. He trained in and taught for over 10 years the ancient Chinese art of Tai Chi for health and relaxation. I use this skills as part of my meditation and prayers. Take care Susan
Randy & Sheri Moody from Brea, California wrote on March 25, 2011 at 6:55 PM:
Jim & Nanc, Great news on the successful surgery and quick recovery!!!! One of many scripturally based principles you have tought and modeled is having high expectations. Our prayers were filled with expecting the positive results, to also include both big & small miracles to take place to give God the glory, at the same time wanting "the Lords will to be done". In our finite minds it is very difficult and many times we are just not able to understand when the Lord's will has different or unexpectant results. We can however rest in knowing he is in control and loves us regardless of the results. What a joy it is that we can celebrate and give thanks to our wonderful Savior for answered prayer and receiving the results we expected. Look forward to hearing about those undeniable miracles that took place during your surgery that you mentioned. Thank you Jim again for allowing us to be a part of your journey. Love you both!! Randy, Sheri, Zac & Kami, & Dawson.

Dear Jim and Nancy - It is so wonderful reading your latest post-amazing recovery!!! We are so inspired by your "fight" and the unbelievable positive attitude you exhibit all throughout this ordeal but most of all your steadfast faith in our LORD. We truly believe in our hearts that HE has a wonderful plan for you and many many more years! This suffering and pain episode in your life is like taking the same path of HIS suffering and pain. To Nancy - wow!!! What a model of wife and mother you are! (As if we didn't know that already but reinforced more than ever now!) We continue to pray for you both everyday - "Dear LORD, please remove every diseased cell from Jim's body- YOU are a healing GOD, please hear our prayer, in JESUS name- Amen."

Dear Jim & Nancy! Everybody in team Network 21 Ukraine so glad to hear the good news. This is what everybody hoped and wished for so much! We also hope that this news is the first in the line of other great news the future holds in store for you. You set the best possible example of how one should deal with no matter how discouraging things in their lives. It’s very easy to loose hope and fall into despair. It is way harder to embrace whatever comes your way not loosing hope and belief in goodness. That is where one needs to see such a profound example of bravery and faith as you present. By means of this letter we would like to express our support and best wishes to you. May your spirit be ever this strong and life-asserting, and may it lead you through to what surely be incredible victory! With great love and sincerity, Network TwentyOne Ukraine

Praise God from whom ALL blessing flow! What a gift you are giving us all. Aaron just received his cycle 2, 1st chemo after a week of rest. You know the drill. We sat together and read your post. What an encouragement and praise report. Like you, we are rejoicing in prayers from family and friends (a little smaller #!). Aaron has been reading your book, Piano on the Beach, and commenting on how he didn't realize how much he has missed the "leadership." As we began our journey with cancer this January we read Max Lucado's book ,It's Not about Me (guess who gave me my first Max Lucado book to read - Nurse Nancy, of course). We are striving daily, with prayer, to live with this purpose in all we do. With God's help and friends like you who share your heart and hope, all this possible. We are truly blessed and grateful. We love you and know we daily lift you, your family, and medical care team up in our prayers. We serve a God who loves to answer His childrens prayers. In His Care, Kim and Aaron

Dear Jim and Nancy. It has been wonderful to follow your progress, and read about your successful operation. We knew God had more plans for you - it is definitely NOT your time. Sadly, a couple of days ago my poor Mum died, so we have been through our own stressful week. Mum has been unwell for the last couple of years so we knew her time was limited. But when the end finally comes it is so horrible. My sister and I were with her at the end which was a comfort. So many people told me her funeral was the saddest and the happiest they had ever experienced. What an emotional week. So, it was wonderful to read of your successful surgical outcome - so uplifting - exactly what I needed. Thanks! our love to you both. Susan, Tim, Bronwyn and Cameron xxx

Even though we never wanted this cancer challenge, our precious Lord is using it to grow us and others too. As you were having your successful surgery, we too, were getting good news! From all the tests this week, we learned every organ in Johnny's body is healthy and the only cancer is in the lung. Praise God! He will begin a new target therapy trial that is getting great results and we are ready and feel our Lord's presence with us. We all certainly see from notes from you and Nancy how He is carrying you through your trial too. You both will remain in my daily prayers as we lift you to Him through your healing time. Thanks for sharing your stories through your cancer walk with us and we will continue to pray and watch our mighty God's hand in your complete healing! I lean on Proverbs 3:5 daily and am blessed everyday as I see you and Nancy are too! To God be the Glory! Janine and Johnny Cmaidalka

Jim, I heard from John Maxwell about praying for you. I had no idea until now. Just remember, God is good all the time. We might not understand why until we get to the other side. I guess if it was God's purpose to draw you nearer to him and be a living testimiony, then I guess we alreadt have part of the answer. Just hearing about you has prompted the Holy Spirit living in me to grab my attention about being totally obedient to Him. Thank you for being God's messenger through all that you've been through. We love you and we'll be praying for your quick recovery. Life is so precious.

Dearest Jim, When I landed in SFO today, I received updates from Dave. I am so thrilled for you as you get closer to being totally healed, in the Name of Jesus! This morning, I was thinking of you as I read 'Jesus Calling'. I Loved what it says today...i decided to put it in the post so you can read it....."I comprehend you in all your complexity; no detail of your life is hidden from Me. I view you thru eyes of Grace, so don't be afraid of My intimate awareness. Allow the Light of My healing Presence to shine into the deepest recess of your being - cleansing, healing, refreshing and renewing you". How appropriate for timing:-) dear Lord! How amazing is He as he assures us "I will never leave you or forsake you" "rejoice in the One who understands you completely and loves you perfectly. As I fill you with My Love, you become a reservoir of love, overflowing into the lives of other people". Praise God for His Word, and the timing of this message on March 17th. As I read the post by Sudhir of India and his success in his surgery, I Thank God for his blessings upon you, and those you have and are going to bless. Looking forward to great and wonderful news on your healing! May God shine upon you, bless you, and strengthen you. Love, daisy

Dear Nancy & Jim, I am impressed about the way you interact with this illness, respectively the “invaders”, and how you share this with all of us. It would be a pleasure for me to give you a recommendation for the time after the surgery. To get back your strength is the power of the nature very helpful. In German, there is a difference between organic food and non-vital food. And only organic food, means vital and right food, for example an apple, gives the body all what it need to overcome such a situation. Avoid all industrial produced and treated foodstuff, please. If you want, I send you a pamphlet with the title “Healthy through the right food” from Dr. Max Otto Bruker in English via email. It would be a pleasure for me, if you will use this. Enclosed you find a link to the homepage from the german publishing house. http://www.emu-verlag.de/product_info.php/cPath/21_40/products_id/300 The right food is for preventive too.

God knows what plans He has for you. I was struck this week by Paul's words in Philippians 1:23 "I am torn between two desires: Sometimes I want to live and sometime I long to go and be with Christ. That would be far better for me, but it is better for you that I live." (NLT). I imagined adding so much value to the lives of others that this would be true - and it is true for you. Amin.

I am sitting with the kids and Dave Ruelas here at the hospital. The wonderful nurse came out to give us an update on Jim's surgery progress. The surgeon did the first incision at 8:08 and she spoke with us at 10 am. She said that the doc said the surgery is going well and Jim is stable. It is a two part process and they were just then beginning the second part. They expect to be finished at about noon. The surgeon said yesterday that the surgery would last from 4 to 6 or 7 hrs depending. With the amazing prayers and fasting dorm all of you, it looks as tho he will be done at the earlier range of time. May the Lord get the glory. Jim was relaxed as we waited for them to take him. We spent the time reading scripture and savoring His presence. We'll keep you updated and thank you for praying for this next part of the surgery-- probably the most crucial as they remove the esophagus and surrounding lymph nodes. Thank you so much for praying. Love, Nancy

PRAYER OF HEALING FOR JIM DORNAN Lord, Jesus Christ, receive this our humble prayer for our brother Jim who is now down with illness, wanting you. Send him Your Divine Gift to ease his suffering, free him from disease and lift him from pain. May Your name be praised. Lord of the sick and the suffering, you know peoples’ soul and everything we do, turn Your face towards Jim and send him relief from his sickness so that he can continue his mission here among us. Our Omniscient Father, You know that we still need so much his presence, his guidance, his model and his strong faith in the potential and kindness of human beings, this is why we humbly ask You to return him in peace and in good health to us which loves him.. Lord of the blind, whose eyes you touched and told them “According to your faith let it be done to you”, touch our brother Jim and heal him of every sickness and suffering for his faith and those who pray for him. For You light our souls with peace in times of suffering and dismay. You send unexpected help, You ail, You look lovingly upon those who seek hope in You. We strongly believe that You have the power to build everything and touch everything with life. You are The Healer of souls and bodies. We praise Your Name now and forever. Amen.

Hi Jim and Nancy. I, like so so many others, have been reading your entries and what a wonderful witness you are to the world. Every entry I read reconfirms to me the strength of the Holy Spirit in our lives and the guide that is there for all of us to make right decisions - even in the middle of ashes. I continue to truly pray for your full recovery Jim and know that as Jesus came to serve and not be served, you even at this time continue to serve all those around you with your strength and Godly witness. Such a faith in God setting the compass for our lives, gives us security in aligning our lives with His wisdom. How can Man alone make decisions based on our own "humaness"? This can only be frought with frailty and unknown and unforeseen consequences. I've often agreed with the idea that a firm belief in God does not take away sadness or disappointment but does give us such mighty courage and personal strength to face our obstacles full on. You and your family are certainly witness to that. My favourite song/prayer is a Puritan prayer - The Valley and the Vision. I have played this so often it is nearly worn out! It is in the Valley that we truly see the Vision of our Lord and know that in the darkest times, it is then we see His light. Prayers are with you and all the family - and all your carers, surgeons and hospital staff.

Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the LORD"! Psalm 27.13+14 Liebe Nancy, nachträglich auch von der ganzen Kölmel-Familiy die herzlichsten Glückwünsche zum Geburtstag. Du bist eine vorbildliche Frau, Mutter und Unternehmerin und der Segen Gottes ruht in dir und du strahlst genau das aus, was in John 13,34 steht: " I give you a new commandment: that you should love one another. Just as I have loved you, so you too should love one another" Für heute sollen dir und der ganzen Famile folgende Verse Zuversicht und Kraft geben: 2Tim.1 besonders Vers 7 "For God gave us not a spirit of fearfulness; but of power and love and discipline"! Isaiah 41:10 "Fear thou not, for I am with thee; be not dismayed, for I am thy God; I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness"! Hello Jim , On this very special day today, I pray for your very succesful operation and wish that GOD remains with you throughout this process. My name is Sudhir Ganguly and I llive in Mumbai, India. I have heard so much about you from my son and daughter in law - Shubir and Monica Ganguly – who are Amway Business Owners at Melbourne. I am aware that there are millions and millions of people who have been so deeply touched, influenced and benefitted to have fantastic quality of lives. It is the good wishes of all these people that are there with you and around you, working as a shield of protection, care and respect. And all this for a man they all love so much – yes its for you dear Jim Dornan. I have also been closely following the updates posted on the web learning all about how you and Nancy are handling this challenge. And we admire the way its done. I am writing this email to you also because I too have been inflicted with the same disease . I was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in December last year and once confirmed, I went on to have 3 severe rounds of chemotherapy at the well known TATA Cancer Hospital at Mumbai. Very able doctors of this hospital have put me on the “ Magic Protocal” which means 3 rounds of chemotherapy with a gap of 21 days, followed by surgery and then again 3 rounds of chemotherapy. After 3 rounds of chemos, I have had my surgery on the 8th March and am recovering steadily after that here. And I wish to share with you that there is nothing to be concerned about. Just go in there and almighty GOD and the good wishes of all will do the rest. My wife Bulu , myself, Shubir and Monica, wish you a very successful operation on the 16th and the subsequent recovery. GOD bless. Regards, Sudhir Ganguly. Mumbai

Dear Jim & Nancy, It has been said that you are what you repeatedly do. We see all the evidence where you & Nancy have impacted lives for the better all around the world and you continue to do so even on this recent journey. Thank you for being willing to allow us to see your “faith in action” as you progress toward God’s glorious manifestation in your life. May the peace of our Lord Jesus Christ rest mightily on you now and in the future. Romans 12:2 talks about being either in the good, the acceptable or the perfect will of God. The evidence from your life points to being in His perfect will. Take joy in the fact that as you move along the path that God has ordained for you, just being on that path provides you with victory. We love you and are praying for you.

Jim and Nancy, As I have prayed for you I searched for a special scripture to send you. Then I realized I should give you "my" scripture. I prayed for my unborn granddaughter Alison 17 years ago as she was in distress. God gave me : Psalm 21:2 You have given him his heart's desire and not withheld the request of his lips. and Psalm 21:4 He asked LIFE from You and You gave it to him. Two days after Alison was born I was in the hospital for brain surgery. I believe God in His grace allowed me to pray for myself even though I did not realize it at the time. I've treasured these scriptures, now I believe God wants me to give them to you. Love, Shirley Irwin

Dear Mr. Dornan So many prayers for you and your family - it is unbelieveable great! Although I'm only one who hopes and not a strong believer I speak an "Our Father" on daily base for you and your recovery. Because you believe that every single prayer helps. In this way I am with you in thought. And thoughts can change nearly everything. I just had the pleasure to listen to CDs from Misses Dornan and your son Dave. You can really be proud of them. In every speech a part of you was there, was with them. I don't know why but all over the time listening to their speeches I had the feeling that your absence is only temporarily! This is a good feeling! You will recover, you will return to your loved ones, you will still be the one who makes the difference. For your family, your friends and us networkers. From our hearts we wish get well soon over the ocean to you. May the surgery went well! Gernot Lasser (Evi & Hans Nussholds group)
